Glad It is a New Week

Simple Woman's Daybook for Monday, May 24, 2010

Outside my window....it is cloudy, grey and misty rain. I truly could snuggle under an afghan all morning but I am really hoping for a more productive Monday:)

I am thinking....about our recent reservations for travel plans this fall to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary - more about that later! (I am excited!!)

I am wearing....a white shirt - my favorite! I have a slight obsession with white shirts - I could have twenty in my closet and be perfectly happy not to have any other shirts?!?!

I am remembering...all the events from graduation week last week. I thought I was prepared (whatever that might be for me right now) but it was a very difficult week. It was also a special time for so many of the teenagers. I am also remembering the pastor's sweet rememberance of Tyler on Friday evening.

I am going....to try and stay home today but I may go visit Nellie in the hospital later this afternoon. She has been so very sick and my heart has been so heavy for her and her dear husband. I thought she seemed to be improving yesterday but last evening, she was definitely struggling. She - and Paul - are in need of much prayer.

I am reading....a book of autobiographies/testimonies that the seniors compiled. It is so fun to read their salvation stories as well as their dreams for the future. The book also included "Remembrances of Tyler" written by each of the seniors. Some of the stories shared even I had forgotten - and all of their comments have been a true joy to my heart.

I am hoping.....that Nellie's family will begin to support her, that Morgan has a great "first week of freedom" :), that Debbie continues to feel the peace that passes understanding even as she starts her cancer journey with all the doctor visits, test and decisions, and that Jordan can come home soon.

On my mind....this quote from Henry Ford: If you think you can or you think you can't, you are right.

From the kitchen....are the pre-packaged meals from my new diet. I mentioned that I was reading about it last week and everything I could find was postivie, healthy, encouraging and seemed right for me - so I ordered it and started on Saturday. It is the Medifast diet and on day three, things are going great. I probably will not blog much about my dieting but I will let you know later on what I thought about this plan - like I said, for now, it was only been two days! But, I am psyched for this:)

Around the house....I am lighting candles! The weather has been humid and things just smell musty...like too much rain. I really need to freshen the air - and its either light candles or bake cookies - which if you read the previous paragraph is not my best option.

Plans for the week....the last of the last of the last treatments on Wednesday!! Can you hear my Woo Hoo??

One of my favorite things......pedicures - I know, that was rather random but I do feel rather spoiled when I go to get a pedicure...and I love bright, fun colors on my toes! I don't get a pedicure too often but just my reward myself after I loose my first ten pounds:)

  2. Hi Jennifer,
Was wondering where you have been, but know it must have been a rough week. That was so sweet that your Pastor made a special point to acknowledge Tyler and also the sweet book by the Seniors with their stories in it. That is precious.
Hope you are feeling better by now.
But if you aren't that is okay too,
sometimes grief takes awhile, and you have done very well, so you might just need a few days to get some more out!!
When did Tyler actually go home to be with the Lord?? You may have said before, but think it must have been before I started reading your blog, unless I have just forgotten, which is not impossible, since I forget so much lately!!
Know you will be so happy to get these treatments behind you, will continue to pray for you hon.
So happy you are a survivor cause you are such a neat and encouraging sweetie.
Hope you have a fabulous week, at least after Wed. I know you will,
    Love and Blessings hon,
    Nellie

  4. I am so touched by the fact that the seniors wrote stories about Tyler and gave to you and that the minister talked about him, as well. I know that really touched your heart. I know graduation was hard, but I'm sure you would not have missed it for the world. Your sweet Tyler was there in spirit, for sure. I know you will be so glad for your treatments to be over. Praying for you, sweet friend! Can't wait to hear about your upcoming trip for your anniversary. So fun! Love & blessings from NC!
